The following points will be clarified.  The sketch of the festival scenery in front of the shrine in Conderʼs sketchbook depicts the front of the Nishi-romon of Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. The sketch can be judged to be a depiction the Shinko-sai in the Gion Matsuri. Conder visited Kyoto at least twice, around July 1884 and around March 1895. Considering the timing, this sketch can be thought of as depicting the scenery of the Shinko-sai held on July 17, 1884.},
