　Our main focus of this research report is the festival lanterns used in Tanabata floats at the Tanabata Festival in Murakami city, Niigata prefecture. We mainly report the result of questionnaires, conducted in 2014 on the site of the Murakami Festival and in the towns where the procession of the festival went around, about the tools and equipment used in the festival, and the field survey conducted in 2017 in the place of
