| 内容記述 | This project is a spatial design piece created in collaboration with elementary school students from grades 3 to 6 who participated in the “Children’s Craft University,” along with seminar students who joined on the day. We explored the possibility of creating a light-based spatial design in Nagaoka, known for its short daylight hours during winter. Thus, as a project to enjoy light-based spatial design, we held the first installment of the ‘Light from Nagaoka’ project at the Children’s Craft University. We believe spatial and interior design are not just for times when people have mental space to spare. Despite design’s power to alter emotions and expressions, we felt it was often utilized only in positive situations. Furthermore, in Japan, many perceive interior design as a domain enjoyed by the affluent. Therefore, we focused on “times of disaster” when people face severe mental strain, while simultaneously designing a disaster-use spatial lighting device that could also be integrated into daily life. |
