At first the garden of the Sado magistrateʼs office was built, and then the gardens of the licensed pleasure quarter, the temple, and the private house were made.  We can get to know about the gardeners in Aikawa of the Edo period from 〝The History of Aikawa of Sado(佐渡相川志)"written in 1753. Various people, such as a masterless samurai, a mountain priest, a local government official, and an exile, made the gardens.  〝The History of Sado(佐渡志)"written in 1816, describes trees and flowers planted in the garden in Sado. Although many plants grew wild in Sado, there were also cultivated species carried from outside the island. Probably these plants were sed for the gardens in Aikawa.}, pages = {80--86}, title = {佐渡国相川の庭園と作庭者}, volume = {11}, year = {2014}, yomi = {ヒダ, ノリオ} }
